New York Declared Infidelity Capital
In a surprising turn of events, New York has earned the dubious title of the state most likely to produce cheaters. Research conducted by Kalon, an AI-image generating firm, unveiled that cheating-related online search activity in New York is 18% above the national average.
Furthermore, the state ranks 29% higher for searches related to manipulation, indicating a prevalent interest in deceptive behaviors within relationships. Most notably, New Yorkers demonstrate a keen interest in affair websites, showing a search rate 29% above average.
Cheating No Longer a Crime in New York
Adding to this revelation, New York has recently decriminalized cheating. Under a new law signed by Governor Kathy Hochul, adultery, once considered a class B misdemeanor with a potential 90-day jail sentence, is no longer illegal. This legislative change allows individuals to engage in infidelity without legal repercussions.
Despite the leniency on cheating, experts in relationship dynamics continue to provide insights into identifying signs of infidelity. Observers note that unusual emoji use in text messages and communication with unknown phone numbers may hint at a partner’s unfaithfulness.
Analysis of Infidelity Search Trends
The Kalon study meticulously analyzed Google search patterns across all 50 states to identify the likelihood of infidelity. They explored three primary categories: searches related to cheating, manipulation, and affair websites.
Using data sourced from the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2023 American Community Survey, researchers calculated a “Cheating Search Score” to rank the states based on their residents’ search behaviors.
Top States for Cheating
- 1. New York
- 2. Alaska – Exhibiting high search rates for cheating and manipulation, Alaska also indicates a relationship environment characterized by secrecy.
- 3. Nevada
- 4. Wyoming
- 5. Hawaii
Other states also displaying signs of infidelity include Vermont, Rhode Island, Georgia, California, and Oregon.
Lowest Likelihood for Cheating
On the opposite end of the spectrum, Mississippi ranks as the least likely state to engage in infidelity. The study reveals that residents show minimal interest in cheating-related topics, with state searches for manipulation 21% below average and affair website interest plummeting 34% below the national norm. Following closely behind Mississippi are Arkansas, Idaho, Kentucky, and West Virginia.
Insights into the Cultural Divide
According to Kalon representatives, these findings shed light on the differing attitudes toward fidelity across the nation. “Whether driven by temptation, dissatisfaction or quiet curiosity, the search patterns offer a striking look at how infidelity manifests in various regions,” a spokesperson stated. “Some states show subtle signs, while others leave a loud digital trail, revealing a deeper cultural divide around commitment, secrecy, and relationship boundaries.”
